Diabetes Fonds Fellowships

For whom?

The Diabetes Fonds Fellowships welcome applications from researchers across all disciplines. Whether your background is in (bio)medical sciences, psychology, sociology, technology, or another field, we encourage you to apply. A Diabetes Fonds Fellowship helps you develop as a researcher in the diabetes field. It is a personal grant that allows you to take the next step in your career.

Applicants need to be affiliated to a university, academic centre, university of applied sciences, medical centre or non-profit research institute. Your research proposal should have a focus on diabetes.

Types of funding

The Diabetes Fonds Fellowships provide two types of funding:

Diabetes Fonds Junior Fellowships

The Diabetes Fonds Junior Fellowships are intended for talented early-career researchers who are driven to advance their career in diabetes research. These fellowships offer promising scientists the opportunity to develop their own research line in close collaboration with an established scientist.

Through this programme, the Dutch Diabetes Research Foundation aims to support the next generation of researchers and stimulate innovative ideas that can contribute to better prevention, treatment and ultimately a cure for diabetes. The fellowships provide selected candidates with the resources needed to grow into independent researchers.

Diabetes Fonds Senior Fellowships

The Diabetes Fonds Senior Fellowships are aimed at ambitious researchers who are in the transition towards scientific independence and the establishment of their own research group.

With these fellowships, the Dutch Diabetes Research Foundation supports researchers to start or expand their own research group and build a sustainable line of innovative research. The goal is to help outstanding scientists to make significant contributions in diabetes research and to accelerate the translation of scientific insights into meaningful impact for people with diabetes.
